You might remember Christeen and Edward from their engagement shoot a few months back in Elgin. Well, the big day finally arrived and we celebrated at Goederust Farm , one of the many beautiful Franschhoek wedding venues.

The ceremony was done by Edward’s father, I like that… what a special memory. With regards to the decor, they went DIY and kept it simple, which really suited the venue.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to shoot Ismail and Claire’s beach wedding at the Maia Luxury Resort & Spa on Mahe Island, Seychelles… yes, you’ve gotta love this job! Besides the airline leaving my luggage in Abu Dhabi (thankfully my equipment travels as hand luggage), it was 48hrs of island bliss (I would have liked to make a trip of it, but since it was the first weekend in December…no chance!).

Claire and Ismail lives in Dubai, so it’s a short trip and you’re in beach wedding paradise. I love how they did it, small intimate wedding, in what has to be one of the most beautiful settings in the world. The entire wedding party consisted of 11 people (inc bride and groom), just friends.

They all stayed at BayView Seychelles for a few days, enjoying what the island has to offer. Before Claire and Ismail moved to Maia where the wedding and celebrations took place, and living it up in luxury a few days after the wedding as part of their honeymoon.

The wedding itself was everything you’d hope your beach wedding would be. The weather (despite being the rainy season) was perfect, the staff at Maia were amazing, the food incredible and the creole band rocked the party… and I have to say that’s the best Tina Turner cover I’ve ever heard!

I would like to thank…

First and foremost, Claire and Ismail for choosing me to capture their special event.

The friends, who instantly welcomed me into their close knit group and supplied all sorts like hair dryers etc (as I had nothing but the clothes on my back).
The staff at BayView Seychelles for making numerous calls in order to retrieve and deliver my lost luggage while I was busy at the wedding.
My driver who waited for hours at the airport, not to mention cart me around the island.

My job I guess is like any other, it has it’s pro’s and con’s. Like most people I also have days where I’m tired and frustrated. But posting this is a reminder of the good bits, I am incredibly blessed (still). I’ve said this before… how amazing is my job! I get to travel, meet fantastic people and share with them in the moments and day that is so intimate and emotional… that’s really something.

They did everything themselves, it was simple, with just enough detail and beautiful. I loved the natural earthy colours and textures they decided to use for their decor. They didn’t have a wedding cake, instead Calldo made the log for the shot glasses, a nice personal touch.

A few days before the wedding celebration at Olive Rock (coming soon), these two had to complete the legal side of their wedding at the Home Affairs Offices in Paarl (charming place lol). So we decided to capture this momentous occasion and do a little engagement shoot afterwards.
